FAQs

What are your hours?

Our camp day starts at 9:30am Monday through Friday and goes until 3:30pm Monday through Thursday and 2:00pm on Fridays.

Do you have early drop off and/or late stay?

Yes. Early drop-off is from 8-9:30am and late stay is from 3:30-5:00pm. There is a flat rate price of $25 each per week and you can send as little or as much as you want. For Summer 2018, we are expanding our early drop off and late stay program to include a variety of structured activities for all ages.

How early can I drop off if I am not signed up for early drop off?

There is supervision in the building each day starting at 9:20am. Prior to that, no child may be left with a parents' supervision (early drop off rates do apply for campers dropped off prior to 9:20am).

What kind of activities do you do on a typical day?

We start every day with davening (circle time for the pre-school division) and throughout the day we incorporate arts & crafts, baking, sports, ceramics, sewing, drama, workshops, games and more!

What ages is Camp Orah for?

Camp Orah is for girls ages 3.5 to entering 6th grade and boys ages 3.5 to 5. All campers in the Pre-School division (Nursery, Kindergarten and Pre-1A must be potty trained. Camp Orah staff does not change diapers.

How many times a week do the campers swim?

Three times per week. Campers in both the Pre-School and Elementary division receive instructional swim. Pre-School campers are usually asked to bring swimwear more than three times per week as we do a lot of water activities throughout the week, in addition to the structured swim time. A certified Red-Cross lifeguard is always present at the pool.

How many field trips will my child go on throughout the summer?

At least 8! We take field trips once a week in our very own Camp Orah bus. On occasion, surprise trips are thrown in to add to the fun! In addition to the bunk counselors, all field trips are staffed by our experienced head counselor and/or assistant director. Occasionally, the camp director will attend the trip as well.

Is lunch provided?

Yes! A delicious, healthy hot lunch with side dishes and milk is provided, daily, from Tov Pizza. A menu of the weekly lunch schedule is sent out prior to the start of camp. We recommend reviewing the menu carefully to make sure that your child will be okay with the lunch being served. If your child will not eat the lunch being served, a prepared lunch from home should be sent in.

Is the camp a nut-free facility?

No. If your child has a severe allergy, please contact the camp prior to registering your child in order to make sure that we will be able to accommodate the allergy.

What is the procedure if I have to make a schedule change?

All dismissal changes (dropping a child off late/picking up a child early) must be emailed to info@camporahmd.com. A note may also be sent into camp with your child (if you can be sure that your child will make sure to give it to the counselor/head staff). The more advance notice we have, the better.
